Sunday, February 5th, 2012

People who aspire to be famous are always looking for acting agencies. However, there are literally hundreds if not thousands of them and it is not easy deciding which ones are good. You really need to do a lot of research before you find a good one.

Some acting agencies have been in business for years while others are brand new. Just because someone has been around for years, does not make them better. However, it is somewhat more likely that they may have some connections around the industry that will help you become famous. But this is also true for a newer agency if the person came from within the industry.

The entertainment industry is very competitive and only a few people succeed and become famous. Just go into the acting agencies with a realistic goal in mind. You will learn a lot about the industry but just make sure you do not have unrealistic expectations.

There are actually very few actors who are able to make a decent living from acting and it takes several years of paying your dues to do so. But if you have the right looks and know the right people you have a better chance.

If you’ve got the right connections, you have a much better likelihood of succeeding. There are plenty of actors who have studied for years or been in the sector that never make it. I don’t want to shatter your dreams here, but these are the facts.

Most of the actors who made it just got lucky when they were cast . Some acting agencies will help you get discovered and network, but really you are not guaranteed anything.

If you are patient and persistent, you may be able to get some small roles in the industry as long as you do not get frustrated. Just never give up on year dream no matter how long it takes or how hard you have to work because there is always a chance.

If your acting agencies aren’t getting you to where you need to be in show business, all that you need to do is just find another one. There are hundreds or maybe even thousands out there so they are very common. You want to just search around to find the best one for you. If you have difficulty finding acting agencies in your neighborhood just search on the internet or go to Hollywood.

It’s Never Too Late to Learn to Sing

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

Whether you sing in the shower or love to belt out tunes at church, singing is a part of your life, and it is never too late to refine your skills. Even if you think you couldn’t hold a tune in a bucket, you can learn to sing and improve on your current singing ability. First, you need to dispel some common myths about the human singing voice.

Myths About Singing

Many people fail to learn to sing because they think that they can’t. Some think that they were born “tone-deaf,” and others think that only a select few have singing “ability.” While some individuals do have an inborn ability to control pitch or volume better than others, most people can learn these skills. It is very rare for someone to have absolutely no ability to detect tones, which would be true tone-deafness. Statistics show that only around two percent of all people in the world have this problem. Most people who have trouble singing to a particular pitch simply need to have their ears trained to hear these pitches.

Learn Your Range

Are you a soprano or alto, bass or tenor? Learning your range will help you select songs to sing that fit your voice. Just as a trombone cannot play the same notes that a piccolo does, an alto cannot try to sing the same high notes that a soprano can easily hit. If you choose to take voice lessons, have your teacher help you explore your full range, and then choose songs that fall within the boundaries created by your natural voice.

Breathing Correctly

Correct breathing is the key to good singing. Learn to take deep breaths using your diaphragm muscle, not your lungs. To find your diaphragm, take a long, slow breath, and try to push out your abdomen, keeping your shoulders still. If you can do this, you have learned how to breathe with your diaphragm. Then, project your voice out through your head, not your mouth. Visualize yourself sending your breath and voice out through your forehead. This will train you to use your “head voice,” which is far more pleasing to the ear than the standard voice used by most amateur singers.

Sing with Emotion

Once you have learned some basic skill and know what your range is, choose some songs and start singing. When you sing, enjoy yourself. Allow your emotional side to show through your song. If you sing with emotion, people will respond and appreciate what you are singing, even if your voice is not on par with the professionals.

Are You Too Old?

Many adults wonder if it is too late to learn to sing. It is never too late to learn. In fact, many singing teachers will not training children to sing, because their voices are not yet developed. However, as an adult, you will benefit from professional training. You have spent a lifetime learning poor singing habits, so learning to sing as an adult will require the help of a qualified singing teacher. However, with the right training and plenty of practice, you can develop a singing voice that you will be proud of!

Learning To Sing – Where To Start

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

You might enjoy belting your favorite toons in the shower or crooning in your church choir. Regardless of where and when you like to sing, it is never too late to hone your skills if you are serious and passionate. Your beginning level does not matter. Perhaps you cannot hold a tune or are close to auditioning for the opera. Regardless, you need to dispel some common myths before you can reach your potential.

There are many reasons why most people wont get up on a karaoke stage and sing; it could be lack of confidence, lack of education, or both. However, with a little training and practice, even the most tone-deaf singer can learn a few things to assist in their singing capabilities. Just because you are not one of the lucky few who was born with a “good ear” doesnt mean you cant celebrate life by singing as well!

Truly done-deaf individuals cannot detect and identify pitches at all; very few people suffer from this. In fact, just about two percent of people worldwide suffer from this problem. Many people who struggle holding a tune just need some training to hit pitches and intervals correctly.

Frequently, people fail to sing commensurate with their ability merely because they are not singing in an appropriate range. Even an excellent alto cannot sing in a sopranos range with the same accuracy. A voice teacher can help you find your natural range and choose songs appropriate for your voice.

Breathing is also important when trying to sing. After all, who wants to listen to someone gasping for breaths between the melody and verse of a song? When you teach yourself specific breathing techniques, always try to use your diaphragm when singing. You know that you are doing this if your stomach expands with air intake.

Next, sing out of your head, not just your mouth. See your voice moving through your forehead. You will learn to use your “head voice,” which sounds pleasing and better to others.

After mastering some basic skills and determining your range, find some songs you can sing. Enjoy and embrace the singing. Show some emotion. Your listeners will appreciate it, and often prefer an emotionally invested singer who may be less experienced over a cold, more experienced singer.

It is never too late to hone your vocal skills and become passionate about singing and celebrating life as it should be celebrated. Adults have the capability to improve even the most pathetic vocal prowess. Incorporating lessons from a qualified instructor will certainly enhance your vocal skills and lead you to many satisfying nights of karaoke and possibly even to a new career!
